Pre-Natal

Physiotherapy can support both physical and emotional health of pregnant women.

During pregnancy, the body undergoes significant changes, including hormonal, mechanical and postural changes. These can lead to various physical issues such as back pain, pelvic pain, and urinary incontinence and can aggravate old injuries. Prenatal physiotherapy can help to alleviate these symptoms and improve overall physical function during pregnancy and after delivery.

Benefits:

  • Pain management – pelvic pain, lower back pain, joint or muscular pain
  • Postural re-education
  • Pelvic floor retraining
  • Preparation for childbirth
  • Faster recovery after childbirth

Post-Natal
Physiotherapy

After giving birth, woman’s body will go through a time of healing and recovery while it also adjusts to the physical demands of motherhood.

Post natal physiotherapy can help mothers to recover and improve their physical function, quality of life and overall well-being.

Benefits:

  • Pelvic floor rehabilitation
  • Abdominal muscle rehabilitation
  • Scar management
  • Pain management – existing muscle, joint or nerve pain or pain that may arise during the postpartum period
  • Support of breastfeeding
  • Return to exercise safely

Please Note: Between 6-10 weeks it is recommended to have a postnatal check-up with a specialist physiotherapist to ensure that mothers receive the support and treatment they need during this critical recovery time.

Menopausal
Physiotherapy

Pelvic health during menopause is a topic of importance as hormonal changes and aging can have various effects on the pelvic floor.

Remember that each woman’s experience of menopause and its impact on pelvic health can vary. It’s essential to consult with a healthcare provider who specializes in women’s health to address any specific concerns or symptoms you may have and to develop a personalized plan for maintaining pelvic health during menopause.
