SHOCKWAVE THERAPY
What is Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT)?
ESWT is a non-invasive medical procedure used to treat both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. ESWT harnesses high energy sound waves which are delivered precisely to your injury to activate tissue repair mechanisms at a cellular level.
How does our ESWT focused machine differ to most other radial shockwave machines?
The Piezowave2 uses piezo electric crystals precisely arranged in a concave bowl within the therapy source, the Piezowave2 produces high energy sound waves which are focused to a shockwave at a precise depth. The Piezowave2 is the only DIRECT focused shockwave, meaning the energy used is not bounced or reflected and is therefore more accurate.
Focused shockwave allows us to accurately target damaged tissue, treating the area with no impact on health tissue.
What does focused shockwave treat?
- Tendon pathologies such as: Achilles, patella, quadriceps, hamstrings, gluteal.
- Calcific tendonitis.
- Tennis and golfers elbow.
- Planter fasciitis.
- Medial tibial stress syndrome.
What to expect from treatment?
You can expect to feel a toothache/pinching sensation which will be set at your tolerance level.
What is the frequency of treatment?
3-6 sessions typically every 3-7 days apart.
