Pelvic Floor Pain Treatment in London

Condition

Pelvic Floor Pain

Pelvic floor pain is more common than many people realise and far more treatable than most are ever told. Whether you have been living with symptoms for months or years, or have only recently begun to notice something is not right, expert help is available. At Mayfair Health, our women’s health specialist provides sensitive, evidence based care in a completely private and supportive environment.

How we Help

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues that form the base of the pelvis, supporting the bladder, bowel, and uterus, and playing a vital role in continence, sexual function, and core stability. When the pelvic floor is overactive, underactive, or poorly coordinated, it can produce a wide range of symptoms that significantly affect quality of life.

Pelvic floor pain may present as persistent pelvic aching, pain during or after intercourse, pain with tampon use, bladder or bowel urgency, a sensation of heaviness or pressure, or pain that worsens with prolonged sitting or physical activity. Conditions commonly associated with pelvic floor dysfunction include vaginismus, vulvodynia, interstitial cystitis, endometriosis, and chronic pelvic pain syndrome.

Our women’s health specialist takes a thorough, holistic approach to pelvic floor assessment, combining a detailed clinical history with an external and internal pelvic floor examination conducted with your full consent and explained clearly at every stage. Internal assessment is the gold standard approach for understanding pelvic floor function and provides information that external assessment alone cannot offer.

Treatment is tailored to your specific presentation and may include manual therapy, pelvic floor down training or rehabilitation, breathing and pressure management techniques, scar tissue treatment, pain education, and progressive return to activity guidance.

We recommend starting with an initial 60 minute consultation. Nothing will be assumed, rushed, or dismissed. You will leave with a clear understanding of your condition and a structured, compassionate plan for your recovery.

Many of our patients come to us after years of symptoms being normalised or mismanaged. If that is your experience, you are not alone and effective treatment is available.

No GP referral required. Available across Mayfair, and South Kensington.
