How we Help
Understanding Knee Pain
The knee is a complex hinge joint relying on a network of ligaments, tendons, and cartilage to provide both stability and movement. Pain can arise from the joint surfaces themselves, the surrounding soft tissues, or be referred from the hip or lower back, making an accurate diagnosis essential before treatment begins.
Common knee conditions we treat include osteoarthritis, soft tissue injuries such as ligament sprains and strains, tendon injuries including patellar and quadriceps tendinopathy, meniscal tears, and patellofemoral pain syndrome. We also support patients through surgery, providing prehabilitation ahead of procedures such as ACL and meniscal repair or knee arthroplasty, as well as structured rehabilitation afterwards.
Knee pain may present as swelling, stiffness, instability, or pain localised to the front, side, or back of the joint, and is frequently aggravated by stairs, squatting, running, or prolonged standing.
How We Can Help
We begin with a comprehensive assessment of knee joint mechanics, movement patterns, muscle strength, and alignment through the hip and ankle, building a complete picture of what is driving your symptoms before any treatment begins.
Treatment is tailored to your diagnosis and goals and may include joint mobilisation, soft tissue therapy, targeted strengthening of the quadriceps, hamstrings, and hip musculature, movement re-education, load management, and clinical Pilates integration where appropriate. For patients facing surgery, we offer prehabilitation programmes designed to optimise strength, mobility, and confidence ahead of ACL reconstruction, meniscal surgery, or knee arthroplasty, helping to support a smoother recovery. Following surgery, we provide structured post-operative rehabilitation, including progressive return-to-function and return-to-sport pathways.
What to Expect
We recommend starting with a thorough 60 minute assessment. You will receive a clear diagnosis, an explanation of the contributing factors, and a structured treatment plan with realistic expectations at every stage.
Whether your knee pain is recent or has been building for years, our team has the clinical depth to help, including patients who have been through treatment elsewhere without lasting relief.
