Arthritis Treatment & Management in London

Condition

Arthritis

Arthritis affects millions of people in the UK yet many are told there is little to be done beyond pain relief and waiting for a joint replacement. At Mayfair Health, we challenge that approach entirely. With the right physiotherapy and management strategy, arthritis symptoms can be significantly reduced, joint function can be improved, and quality of life can be meaningfully restored.

Arthritis

Arthritis is an umbrella term for conditions that cause joint inflammation, pain, and stiffness. The most common form is osteoarthritis, a degenerative condition in which the cartilage within a joint gradually breaks down, most commonly affecting the knees, hips, hands, and spine. Inflammatory arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, involves the immune system attacking joint tissue and can affect multiple joints simultaneously.

Symptoms typically include joint pain, stiffness particularly after rest, swelling, reduced range of movement, and in advanced cases, joint deformity. Arthritis can significantly limit mobility, independence, and quality of life but the degree to which it does is strongly influenced by how it is managed.

Physiotherapy is one of the most evidence based and effective interventions for arthritis management. Our clinicians design individualised programmes that combine joint mobilisation, targeted strengthening, movement re-education, and pain management strategies, all calibrated to your specific joints, severity, and lifestyle.

We work to reduce pain, improve strength and stability around affected joints, optimise movement patterns to reduce loading, and equip you with the self management strategies to maintain your progress long term. For patients considering or awaiting joint replacement surgery, we also provide pre-operative conditioning and comprehensive post surgical rehabilitation.

We recommend starting with a thorough 60 minute assessment examining joint function, strength, movement, and the impact of your condition on daily life. You will leave with a clear, honest picture of your arthritis and a practical, progressive plan to manage it effectively.

We regularly see patients who have been told to simply live with their arthritis. In our experience, that is rarely the only option.

No GP referral required. Available across all clinics.
