BioDensity Training

BioDensity Training

The most time-efficient way to build bone strength. 15 minutes, once a week.

BioDensity is a clinically validated training system that delivers the bone-building stimulus of high-impact exercise without the risks of heavy lifting, jumping or high-impact loading.

Using isometric force (exerting force in a static position), it safely stimulates the skeleton at forces many times your body weight, triggering the adaptive bone response that leads to increased bone mineral density.

At Mayfair Health, BioDensity is a core component of our Bone Health Clinic, used alongside Echolight REMS scanning, physiotherapy-led bone strength and conditioning, and personalised lifestyle interventions to provide a comprehensive, bone health programme.

How we Help

Bone adapts in response to mechanical load — the greater the force applied to the skeleton, the stronger the signal for new bone formation. BioDensity places you in the optimal biomechanical position for each of four movements — chest press, leg press, core pull and vertical lift — and has you exert maximum isometric force against a fixed resistance. The forces generated far exceed what conventional gym exercise can safely achieve, with none of the associated injury risk. You are always in control, and the machine records your output precisely at every session.

Each session takes just 15 minutes. There is no cardiovascular fatigue, no soreness and no recovery time — making it one of the most time-efficient bone-loading interventions available.

  • Those with osteopenia or osteoporosis — the isometric loading is safe even where conventional strength training needs to be introduced cautiously — all sessions are clinically supervised
  • Those new to exercise — BioDensity provides safe, effective bone loading without requiring gym experience, advanced technique or heavy lifting
  • Regular exercisers — delivers an additional osteogenic stimulus on top of your existing training, without adding significant fatigue or recovery demand
  • Anyone taking a proactive approach — you do not need a diagnosis to benefit — building bone density earlier means a stronger foundation as you age

Research shows the greatest results come from weekly BioDensity sessions over 40 weeks, combined with twice-weekly physiotherapy-led strength and conditioning. At Mayfair Health, BioDensity is integrated into our broader Bone Health Programme alongside:

  • Echolight REMS scanning — to establish baseline bone mineral density and Fragility Score, and monitor progress at 12-month intervals
  • Physiotherapy-led strength and conditioning — supervised progressive loading to complement the BioDensity stimulus and build overall musculoskeletal resilience
  • Personalised lifestyle guidance — nutrition, sleep and stress management tailored to your programme
  • Onward referral where appropriate — established relationships with leading physicians and specialists for patients requiring medical input or HRT advice

A landmark Australian trial (2018) showed that participants undertaking supervised strength training twice weekly alongside a weekly BioDensity session significantly improved bone mineral density compared to those performing bodyweight exercise, balance training and stretching. Long-term data from BioDensity clinics worldwide show T-score improvements of 5 to 10%. At Mayfair Health, our clients are beginning to see consistent results in their follow-up Echolight scans. With close to one million sessions completed worldwide, the technology has a well-established safety and effectiveness record.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is BioDensity and how is it different from conventional strength training?

BioDensity uses isometric loading — exerting maximum force in a static position — allowing the machine to generate forces many times your body weight at the skeleton, producing a stronger bone-building stimulus than conventional gym exercise with significantly lower injury risk. A session takes 15 minutes, involves four movements and requires no recovery time.

Four isometric movements — chest press, leg press, core pull and vertical lift — each performed in sequence. You are positioned optimally by the machine and asked to exert maximum force for a brief effort. The machine records your output precisely at every session, allowing your clinician to track progress over time.

Our training protocols are guided by the landmark LIFTMOR Trial, which found that most individuals achieved the greatest improvements in bone density through a combination of bone strength training twice a week and BioDensity training once a week.

Yes. The isometric nature of the loading is safe even for patients with osteoporosis who may not tolerate conventional heavy lifting. You are always in control of the force applied, the machine positions you optimally, and all sessions are clinically supervised.

We strongly recommend one to establish a baseline measurement of bone mineral density and Fragility Score, allowing us to tailor your programme and track progress meaningfully. If you have had a recent DEXA scan, we can use that as a starting point.

Bone remodelling is gradual — meaningful improvements typically become measurable after nine to twelve months of consistent training. Short-term benefits include improvements in strength and the force output recorded by the machine. Long-term data show T-score improvements of 5 to 10%.

This varies between insurers. We recommend contacting your insurer in advance to confirm your cover.
